Panning for Gold on Washingtons Gold Coast

Another fun weekend with The Team Rust crew and it appears we’ve moved our treasure hunting from Rust to Gold. Gold fever has found its way into the team and armed with gold pans, classifiers, sluice boxes and high bankers we’ve been searching out locations, claims and advise on where to go. Surprisingly, or maybe not so surprisingly to veterans of this hobby, coastal beaches can be rich with fine gold, as we found out here at Benson Beach, Cape Disappointment in the southwest corner of Washington State where the mouth of the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean.

Camping with Team Rust isn’t really roughing it. We tend towards eating really well, drinking fine whiskey, relaxing in zero gravity chairs whiling away the evening hours by a blazing camp fire and discussing the days find.

And we eat well too. Here’s Jeff grilling our Prime Filets and Lobster Tails

Filets Mignon and Lobster Tail. Camping at its finest. Of course there was Irish Whiskey. It was St. Patty’s Day.
